Swatch Blocked
Have you ever fallen in love with a swatch? The dance of colors and fibers were meant to be. It was exactly, no, even more perfect than what you had envisioned? After binding off you can help but admire it, so much you show your mate and spend way too much time discussing what it could possibly be? You know it will be a work of art. You ponder a vase, something to be looked at but not sullied by the hands of those unworthy. A beautific work, waiting for your genius.
And then.
You pick up the ruler to check the gauge and realize that there is no way on earth you will be knitting anything larger than a swatch with numbers that look like 36sts/48rows = 4in/10cm.
Then you obsess to the point where you email unsuspecting vendors (in this case Happy Wool to see if they do a black to go with those oh so right colors and you check your Paypal account to see just how much and how big of an FO while still not even sure as to the FO at this point, you know it is there, unformed but waiting.
More later, ZibCast tomorrow (first day of having the morning to myself), I have to go pet the swatch a bit more.
Oh yeah, the mystery thingy from a few posts back. I have a big honking dreidel a dreidel made of felt...have some tweaking to do on the pattern and whatever you don't don't prestuff it with icky yarn that takes a week to dry before you felt it. You end up with a preggers looking bulge instead of a flat top up there by the handle. Don't know if I'll embroider the sides or not. Will work on a smaller version as this one is more decorative than usable. Must perfect the loaded er felted dreidel! Another shot here.
The Man has a new post up on generations and muzak. The same rolls over to fashion here as well. For the music, think it is all about the tech. Fashion, no way I can explain WHY the women feel they must once again don pointed shiny shoes with buckles and poofy sleeves. This morning I saw...shoulder pads. *insert twitching here* Check out the post - Generations. Also, I completely spaced pointing this out so shall do so now - Mare of Fiberlicious has a post on The Man's blog as well. Topic: Women in Combat - You Want Me to Go Where?. Strong opinon from a strong woman, I'd like to read your (that'd be you dear readers) ops on the same (comment over there would ya, had to follow when going back and forth).

Oh dear G*d, and the hate mail had just stopped. A knitted dreidel, I'm loving it. Any chance I can get the pattern? It would go over big time where I live.

Heh hey, no fair! I always get hate mail, no reason for your inbox to declutter so quick.
Yeah, pattern will be up in 7-10. Have to scrounge for more feltable wool to do a smaller size.

I so understand about the swatch...I have a whole pile of them, arranged by color. I keep thinking they will eventually be a great crazy quilt style afghan…slowly fading from blues to greens.

1) I didn't think you came here anymore therefore and I've let the place go to rot and
2) Glasses are broken which means I don't see what the hell I am typing and
3) there is no number three. Weisenheimer!
