who needs google
Really, Kiddo gets right to the point. No need to google "meaning of long pinky nail on men in Sicily" "Sicilian men long pinky nail" and countless other variations. (I see searches for that as frequently as "Vin Diesel arm measurements" and "boob cakes").
This morning Kiddo and I stopped by the Happy Guy's bar (that'd be a cafe, not a bar in the American sense) for a cornetto and a coffee (rocket fuel I tell ya) for me. While I was drinking the coffee Kiddo walks over to talk to the Happy Guy. She notices (after 3 years, not the most observant Kiddo now that I think of it) that HG has a long pinky nail. Not only notices but then asks him "Come mai hai un unghia lunga??" (Why do you have the long nail) HG pretended not to understand while I tried not to laugh outloud (no way I was going to ask so I can finally blog the actual answer). I pay, we leave to get to the school, on the way there she tells me "remind me to ask the HG why he has such a long nail!". Great, now she's obssessed.

uh..........there's only one reason for a long pinky nail that I know of- the world round. And it's not something I would be sharing with kiddo.

Hubby pointed out the long pinky nail thing to me in Paris while we were riding the Metro just over a decade ago (YIKES) ..... I imagine it's still used for the same reason .... BTW, we were innocent observers, not participants ;-)
