Much bettah
Thanks people for your words of wisdom, advice and pointing and lauging in my general direction. I do know The Man called his mama to ask Where she got the doll and why she got a doll to begin with and to tell her he was bringing it to live at her house. I didn't ask what she said, my head hurt and I only would have started yelling again. But given the fact that the SABD will be living over there is a most excellent reason for me not to go there yes? I'll get a headache. Yeah. So now that the smelly white bag has been removed from Casa Zib we're now taking bets on when the SABD will attempt to return, I saw within the week. I say oh round Tuesday [morning between 8.45 and 9.20am]. So now that I am raging headache free I thought I'd play Show & Tell with my current WIPS instead of actually working on them. Shall we?
Starting with the Girlfriend Swing Coat by the lovely and talented and HOT DAMN there just might be a book there! Wendy of Knit and Tonic! I took it off the needles to wash & dry since I hadn't done that to the swatch. At the moment it looks rather butterflyish. Using Noro Bebe [73% Cotton/27% Linen] that Ana had sent me last year. Once it is dry it will get back on the needles and will hit FO status. Knitting on 8mms since the yarn is thick and thin which meant tweaking of the gauge etc. Hence the pulling off for a quick wash, don't want to end up making Kiddo a mumu. Same for the Essential Stripe top by Wendy. Since changing yarn weight/needle size and it's a supahwashwool I stopped where I was to let the yarn loft. Really don't want to have armholes that start at my waist. So far so good and by the post loft looks of it I only have 10 more rows to knit before I join the body. Must pick up a longer set of circs this afternoon (yay a walk to Barone's!) for my CP bamboos are going to break at the most inopportune time if I keep abusing them (I just know it'll happen, I do!). I know what you're thinking, Zib, you *ahem* really going to be wearing horizontal stripes? Nope. Two colors it shall be red up top and will switch to black after the short row boobage part is done. Sleeves might do all red with a black cannoli stripe in there at the end. Now I would REALLY like to complete both of these. Simple, elegant and frankly, if I were the garment designing sort as opposed to accessories they'd be what I'd be shooting to do. I dig her style.
A gratuitous Yarn Pr0n shot of the delicious wool I am using for the next Serena wrap. Hand spun by the above Ana. I'd started the Aran Angle shawl with it but didn't like the way the garter part was sucking up the yarn so it had been sent back to The Box. This Serena is for Amanda who agreed to trade socks for a wrap with me. I don't do socks. She does. And she does beautiful ones at that - she posted a photo of them, can't get her page to come up but by the time you read this you should be able to take a gander.
Next likely to be finished WIP is the lacey possibly hooded sleveless top I'd started sometime during the summer. Cast on the back and made it to armhole shaping last night while watching the last three episodes of the first season of Desperate Housewives. A quick knit indeed, if you don't put it down for 2 months at a stretch. Silky smooth merino, handspunesque (no idea if it is, got if from the LOYM last year).
Finally two of the three current shawl type projects. First had to pull and block the handpaintedyarn to check dimensions so I could formulate /triangulate / contemplate etc. It's a two hank project (less than 250yards of bulky) since that is all I have of that particular color though I am pondering an edging w/ some multi-colored leftovers from another hank. Don't know, I'm not much of an edging type of person.
And then there is the Filatura di Crosa self striping mohair I'd picked up when it was really freakin hot here and I had no business even thinking of mohair let alone buying a box of it from the LYS but it was so pretty AND it changes colors! I know self striping is a common thing for the rest of you but Italy is a bit behind, we make the stuff for the rest of the world but rarely have it on the shelves here. The design I had originally worked up for the hpy.com's Pocitos looks fantabulous in the mohair, pics do not do it justice but I stopped putzing around with the camera once I saw the battery was running on fumes. The yarn has a bright core so the stitch design shines thru the halo. Neat effect.
No use posting Kofi until he is completed, using the Juju doll pattern from the Anti Craft. I see a whole lot of dicktaters in my future. Come to think of it, this calls for a KAL.

Now off to brew some rocket fuel and get in an hour an a half of knitting for the rest of the day will be full of domestic goddess crap and I won't be back to the needles until after dinner.
And here's to a stench free home once again!
Tomorrow will be a Reads link dump, yes, Paris is still burning.

How on earth do you knit so many things, so fast?! I am so jealous.

I don't look. I knit while reading blogs and news. Keeps my head from exploding, most of the time, at any rate (:

glad casa de zib is odor free---we had to dump the beloved pumpkin last night while the wee royalty was asleep since the face was caving in and it had succumbed to a bad case of rot. talk about stinking a place up, nothing like a rotten gourd.
boobage? thanks for the smile!

Can't wait to start Serena myself...I'm wondering how it would look with handpainted yarn. Hmmmm.

Ooh, Zib thank you for the fantabulous photo of that spun wool. I didn't have a good closeup in my portfolio...I do now. :)

Perhaps you could find out if they make a non perfumed version of the doll, go buy that one and switch them up?

oh no no don't want baby dolls here to begin with. was sweeping up yeterday and found the tag that was on the doll. picked it up and of course first thing I did was smell it and of course it reeked. Made in Italy, twins apparently there is a blue pajama wearin boy version. both profumatoed. yuck. Lucky took it to the in-laws. it must stay there. Melly doesn't seem to care. must see if they sell the beginning science kits here or at least sea monkeys!
