Well, this was the attitude which led to The Holocaust. It's relly sad that you believe in religous discrimination.

I happen to have an imported box of Danish chocolates on hand. I lied. I ate them all. Both tiers inside the box. That's a LOT of chocolate. That's doing my part, right?

This "attitude" will help stop the next.

Why is it necessary or acceptable to "oppose" an entire religion? There are millions of law-abiding, moral, intelligent, sensitive people who happen to be Muslim. Opposing extremism is one thing, but I believe strongly in the right to freedom of religion. And the argument that Islam equals extremism just isn't borne out by the reality of the many many Muslims I know. If the Queen had said, "oppose extremism," it'd be one thing - the way she said it really sounds like "Muslims are the new Jews." I respect you and your blog a lot - I just don't know that I can agree with supporting a statement that paints with such broad strokes, about anybody.

Her grandfather was responsible for saving the Jews of Denmark during WW2. Of the approx 7,400 only 180 were captured by the Nazis (100 survived), the rest were evacuated to Sweded by the underground.

I don't think she's making them the New Jews. The old Jews are still The Jew, convienent that way. Right or wrong, she is taking a stand, a move which until this point has been unheard of.

Now off to prowl for more news on the Catholic priest killed in Turkey, authorities haven't ruled out if it is cartoon based or not. Here's hoping it was unrelated, can't quite imagine what will happen here if it was.

Okay. So if she was taking a stand, and said "We have to stand in opposition to Judaism," would it be okay? If the cartoons had been cariactures of the Jewish God, would it be any different? It's true that we're fighting global extremism, but is it ever, ever okay for a world leader to oppose an *entire* major religion- the second largest religion in the world? That sounds like the basis for overgeneralization to me, but I am open to trying to understand otherwise. I don't mean this in a flamey way, only as a serious question.

Just stopping ny since I have been out of town and nneded to catch up- and all was fine until I read some of your comments. People just piss me off- I second your hell yeah!!! I am so tired of people worrying about offending muslims but thinking it is ok to offend other religious groups. The media thinks nothing of offending Christians in America. You are RIGHT!

I live in Turkey, considered to be a 90 something percent Muslim country. My family is Muslic, but I don't believe in religion. God sent religions for people to devote to him in different ways and now people are fighting to prove which of the ways is better. And I see the Queen who opposes the whole religion instead of the bloodthirsty terrorists, no smarter than the stupid president of Iran who believes to move the land of Israel to Europe.

I thought you might like to know that a Danish friend pointed out that a translation issue may have been at hand. The word "opposition" could also translate just as easily as "dialogue with" apparently - the Queen has now said that the translation has been misquoted.

Thanks Kris!

I wanted to point out what a bargain the viking yarn was! (BTW, I couldn't find it right away, but there is a small button at the lowermost left hand side to convert the site to English).
28 DKK is about $4.50 USD. I'm buying some. Hope it makes a difference!
