YARRRRRRRRN Ahoy!

This Yarrrrrrn Weds is brought to you by me, of course, Roxanne at Knit-n-purl Zen and her incredible handpainted merino in Montego Green and the letters O, M and G.
You know the drill, click the pics for the full image. I will be changing my Olympic entry, I can wait no longer than Friday for this. And Roxanne, I *swoon* in your general direction. Tis gaaaaaaaaawgeous!!
OOOH almost forgot to mention, came across a blog today that was blogging about someone out there in knitbloggerland who didn't like it when people posted pics of their yarn because it was like showing off and crap.
It is the Anti-Yarrrrrnist! First this "person" (yes yes I AM offended, how dare one speak out against Yarrrrrrnogrophy) should have their needles and/or hooks confiscated then...okay will think of something else too. A pox on you anti-yarrrrrrnist! May a leigon of carpet beetles come to live with you! BAH! Now, on with the Yarrrrn.

Wonder how I could get a full time gig as a Yarrrrrrnogorpher.

That is some fabulous looking yarn. The colours are wonderful. I think the person who doesn't like yarn pics needs to learn to live vicariously through other bloggers!

You do have an amazing eye for yarn, and I am always swept away by the "product shots" you include.

Oh, my heavens! That is some spectacularly lovely yarn. Those colors... droooooooool.
And seriously? Posting pictures of yarn is "showing off"? I vote that they are only allowed to work with ugly colored petroyarn from now on.

Well, maybe they should be cursed to a special circle of Hell where you have to knit with Red Heart for all eternity...

Wow, you really take great pictures!! I need to hire YOU to take all my pictures...they don't look like yours!! I'm glad you got your yarn!! Can't wait to see what you do with it...I was like a proud Mama whe it came out of the dye bath...said "oh baby, you look great!!"...LOL And WHO in their right mind would not like a little yarnography? I liveeeeeee for the yarn photos...all of them!

Ah, Zib, I aspire one day to be as great a yarrrnographer as you are. What's up with the anti-yarnite? Should we have a day of anger? Should we...should we...oh, forget it...

On second thought, in protest of the anti-yarnite, I shall immediately post my OWN yarrrn pr0n.

Luscious. Just luscious.

Showing off??? What a strange thing to say! I LOVE PHOTOS OF YARN!!!!!!!!!!! Yours are great and I am curious if you use special lighting and cameras!?? Lisa

Love the handpainted merino. And seriously, you MUST keep the yarnogrophy coming--you have a talent for making me drool over pics of yarn.

Holy cats! That's some good lookin' yarn!

HA! I love yarn porn! It's like having a trusted friend tell me what to buy. Seriously. I buy most of my yarn online, so blog reviews are super important to me. And bloggers always take better photos than the 2"x2"s yarn co. sites have for yarn. BRING ON THE YARNOGRAPHY!

These are the BEST - those pictures make me want to quit my job and just lay in a pile of fiber. Drunk on yarn and color- that is all there is to it.
wonderful~ thank you for sharing. Aren't Roxanne's colors great. I am patiently awaiting her next batch of sock yarn...mmmmerino

Seriously... if you don't like pictures of yarn, WHY do you read knitblogs? All projects have to start somewhere, and they're all (okay... 99%+ of them) made out of... wait for it... YARN!
That attitude just doesn't make ANY sense.

Well you know how it is. If there's nothing to bitch about their lives aren't complete.
But back to you being a full time yarrrrrnogropher... You need some models because I have some naughty, naughty Koigu here at the house. ;)

Oh wow, thank you ladies. I try to get the camera to capture what it is I see in a yarn.
Lisa, no, no special things. Photos come right off the camera and are resized, I shoot with a high quality level so I can have room to crop when need be. I do use photoshop for cropping and compressing the file size so images are viewable. I should post another Giving Good Yarnography post come to think of it. Lot of cool tips have come up since the last one.
I wound the first hank earlier. The sheen on it is INCREDIBLE. I knit a 9 st. wide swatch, usually do micro ones when confirming needle size hunches. I can't WAIT to CO!
Ancora mille grazie!

It just goes to show you: Whether you're posting pictures of God or yarn, someone is bound to be offended...
But not me. Beautiful!

Yarnography! Ha! What a great phrase. I love yarn porn :) keep it comin'!

For the love of Mike, some people need to get a flippin' life. I LOOOOVE your yarn porn. Pretty shiny things.

Beautiful yarn! I'm making a stole in something with similar colors, and it's fascinating to watch the variations. It would be great if you'd post some more tips on photography -- after the Olympics, though, right?
p.s. Here's an article from the Washington Post you might like --
