nothing sexier than

A (The) Man who spins silk hankies for you. Click above for the full pic. More later, off to fondle the silkylove.
P.S.
Thank you thank you thank you for the inspiration.
UPDATE: Photoheavy. Added in pics of painting the silk and results from a few hankies I held aside to practice spinning while the rest were drying.
Silk hankies and dyes from The PaperShed.com.
Kiddo painted, I nuked and rinsed. Part 2, the spinning production will be up tomorrow.
I have no idea what the coconut served aside from making me wondering how I could cut it half evenly so I could have a horsey clip clop sound making coconut set ala Holy Grail.

While they dried I showed kiddo and The Man how to draft them, with the how to do the hankies article up of course (so they would believe me). After a couple were drafted out came Frankenspindle. I did two, offered The Man a go at the spinning and haven't touched the spinning since. 10-12 hankies and approx 22 yards later we had a hanklet. See how not smooth those top couple rounds are on the swift? *Ahem* those are the ones I did, after it was set and dry I wound it into a yarn cake. I couldn't help but note how freakin smooth The Man's spinning was compared to mine. Which is okay, really, the point to this exercise was to have an inhouse spinner of silk for ME. I must must must have energized singles like Jillian. I can totally see a knit vase using that technique.

The spinning production pics will be up later. Time to knit up that first silky yarncake.

Holy crap! That CAN'T be beginner yarn, it's so even and pretty!
Good on ya, Fortunado, that stuff is superb. Now I really really really want to get me some silk hankies to spin up.

wow. I'm impressed. I have vowed to never start spinning, but after this, I may just go over to the dark side (good for me I don't have access to a spindle).

To many tempting projects. Got my smelly Sirri yarn yesterday. Kewl stuff and fast shipping to the US from the Faroe Islands.
