Say Cheeeeeeeese
Yes there has been a lack of Yarnography here at Casa Zib. A few days ago I managed to break the camera. I guess the fun fur pasties were a bit much eh. Yesterday a new Yarnotaker came home. Friday we'd gone to pick up a couple things at the market then made a pitstop at the Yarnotaker shop to see what models they had. Our previous two were Nikons and Nikon was what what we were looking at for the new one. The Coolpix P4 caught our eye. The Man found an indepth review, I liked what the review had to say, it seems this model addressed a few of the issues I've had with pic quality of the previous models.
Photo heavy inside, you know the drill, click the thumbs for full image.
The lack of noise in the low ISO is awesome. The stabilization is spot on and the D-lighting feature, brilliant. The camera has all the bells and whistles (and a user's manual which tells you how the heck you use them, unfortunately print vs. is only in Italiano). I tend to putz around with settings when shooting depending on lighting, subject and whatnot but a strong usable point-and-shoot auto everything is mandatory.
The default image size is 2592 x 1944. With the previous Coolpix it was rare that I would utilize the image at 100%. Too much noise. I am rather pleased to see this is not the case with the P4.
Point and shoot macro. Below, Manuel's grandson. Image resized to 400x300 then cropped. Click the for the 800 x 600 full version.

Below, a crop from the origial (same image here) 2595 x 1944 I made an 800 x 600 crop, then further reduced for the thumbnail. No reworking/filtering needed. No noise to annoy the hell outta me. I dig it.

Last night playing with the macro The Man shot the G5's keyboard. The camera picked up scary stuff between the keys. I think there are micro spiders living in there :s It has a few night modes too. Below is effect #2.

Since the last deadline had been met I've had time to spin once again. Currently working on the hankies we'd colored a couple weeks ago. Goal, thin singles to be plied in attempt to take advantage of the barber shop poll effect. I love the hankies. An hour before sunset, auto-everything, flash off, macro on. 119 meters of pinkish silk.

Pink is complete and the cognac with pinkish glow is now on the spindle.

Dig that basket lid.

Switched yarns I'm using for the TGB KALlet. I did not like the drape I was getting at that gauge with the tape. Using the deep purple 'cool wool' that I'd started Starsky with, I knew it wasn't enough for Starsky so now is on its way to becoming a top.

A big Grazie!! to Karen for the box of Cascade220 love. Feltable wool! Woo! This box bounced around Italia a few times, included not only emails from the UPS cust. svc. rep in KY (nice lady named Robyn, perhaps I should send a thank you note to her boss) but a telephone call. She actually called over here to verify that I was a "real live person". Kiddo got some cute stickers and an I *heart* NY t-shirt. I got feltable wool! For the Karen bag (yes, felted bag, yes, pockets) and some other groovy colors which make a rather tempting color combo wether they were meant to be used together or not.

With all this feltable wool just waiting to be sacrificed to the Felting Beast of Death (not to be confused with the BCoD) I thought I'd work up a quick experiment. The Man still doesn't know what it is, when I was casting on and kept adding DPNS it caused him and the Kiddo to inquire as to what the heck I was doing. Circs, straights, weave in ends. It's now drying. It's an experiment. And I am pleased to announce that "Mr. Washie" aka the Felting Beast of Death cold water felts. Now if only I'd discovered that with something that wasn't *coughEllacough* but we don't really want to go there).

Now off to get some needle time in.

I love how they had to verify that you are a "real live person". Like anyone would send packages overseas to fake people/random people.

uhm well, somebody we both know and love had threatened to start shipping dog poo off to fake addys. Summer months, no addy, major stink. As a thanks to those in the yarn delivery mafia ;)

Can't wait to see the Karen bag.
Oh how I cringed when I saw your Ella. Last night I had to rip about 10 rows and reknit. I'm trying to hurry so that you can see a full sized Ella. ;_)

Holy canoli, even better pics than before! You're the coolest.
Great Cascade colors. Karen is a good woman. And what is that former Starsky yarn - gorgeous rich color.

New camera! What fun. Did you break the old one trying to take pictures of Red Heart or the italian equivalent? I know this one will only be used to capture images of the finest fibers on earth, and not ones that grow out of someone's skin!

First, gorgeous silk there. Hankies? Where do you get them? Second, fuggablog??
