PH (and a contest)
I wanted to express our beginning. That swirling primordial ooze from which we crawled. At the same time I searched to include the disdain. Disdain of those who deny the past. Disdain for those who believe mere words on paper as opposed to nature and fact. Sometimes blind does mean blind.

I wanted to create a tribute to Sol who so casually gives us life, who holds us close.

I wanted to convey the hope, the hope which I have in Greene, Gross and Maldacena. C'mon guys! You can do it!

Rage. The rage within. The rage against man. The rage against injustice. The rage within us, be it in deep recesses where the id dare not go or in the corner of our eye. The cry for absolute unadulterated ballast, don't just scream, demand, fight for the return of natural order. We will fight.

Realization in fiber of him who no man is allowed to express otherwise.

The trails of the rockets. Outbound this time. May their aim be true.

And now the contest:
The above is utter bullshit. I'd asked for clarification as to what exactly "art yarn" was on a messageboard. Off topic slant - those who dare to ask what is art are afraid to create their own art or all art is art, art has no use while craft does, it all depends on the deeper reasons behind the art and so on and so forth.
Bullshit I say.
Either you like it or you don't. Once the craptastic hits the wall it transforms into art. Neat how that happens, isn't it. So, I'm not looking for a discussion on what is art since we all know that is subjective nor do I want your definition of art vs craft vs crap.
What I want is your deeper meaning to the above "art yarn". You know the intellectual diggers of deeper meaning types that I'd mentioned when first talking about the Fugablog, well, pretend you are one of those types and tell me what the Deeper Meaning is behind the yarn.
Easy as that.
Leave a comment (on third thought (sorry Hayley, got both of them and thank you!) hit the contact page- let me know it is an entry [either way so I don't publish early] (and no, there won't be a fourth thought, it's too late for that much thinking) . All entries need to be in by July 31 or 30, whichever is the last day of the month.
Winner gets a fat hank of art from Colorsong Yarn, purveyors of Art (unless one of you who don't come here for the knitting actually decides to play, then can swing some local roast for you, c'mon pretend you're one of them why don't you (; ).

The art yarn shown above makes my stomach hurt. It is for the following reasons:
- the pale curls look just like my late paternal grandmother's curly white hair
- the shells bring to mind both her favorite residence [Boca Raton, FL] and her hobby -- seashell art
- she was a hard person to know most times, and a harder one to live with. i think this yarn may be her spirit reincarnated.
be very, very careful. i wouldn't turn my back on it.

Ha! This is great! [I already submitted two entries] I work in the arts and am surrounded by this talk all day, and conversely a group of security guards who mock this talk all day. Lovely.
Cheers!

A scalloped shadow left in the sand.
A visual echo traces
The lullaby lap of the ancient ocean
on the shifting shore.
I remember the sound of crackling sea foam bubbles bursting...
as they have since before my human footprints ever made an impression.

OK, that was fun. I left my own bit of baloney (see, I was an English major -- I used to be able to baloney my way through a LOT). Much fun!

I'm not good at BSing, so no deeper meaning for me, but the shells are cool.

Wow, woke up to 12 enteries to sputter coffee over. Thank you (wow so many of you do artsnob very well!) and keep 'em coming!

Can't wait to ponder the deeper meaning of yarn.
Wait? You don't do that every day?

Okay, I'm in. And I'm spent. I have to go lie down now...

It's what frustrated art majors do when they're bored and frustrated with waitressing.
