underbed

When I first moved here I thought the tiled floor was great. Nothing to vacum! Woo! Little did I realize the bedroom floor being "cotto" tile plus the vaulted ceiling (it's over 20feet high, or looks that way, may be higher I'm bad at guestimating height over my head) and the balcony doors opening up to a busy street and oh the tempura er tempera paint used on the walls and and and well, the works adds up to a rather fertile breeding ground for dust elephants. The surfaces in plain sight get swiffed when you can write your name in the dust (every 2nd day but we like to swiff oddly enough) but the underbed. Well, that is another story altogether.

The light at the end of the tunnel is under my bed. Whodathunk.

And here we have a mother dust elephant and her 7 offsprings. It appears she is teaching them the finer points of shape shifting and invisibility. They are rather talented at not being there when you look then suddenly being there in raging hoardes quantity. Invisibility, yep.

The ceiling of the underbed world. Slatted frame with matress on top. They don't do box springs here, those are from the "olden" days, The Man tells me.

Avert your eyes! It's an orgy! I feel so dirty now.

I was wondering where that hair thingy went. There it is, living in sin with an old tab from the mosqito machine. I hope they are happy.

And here I thought if I actually use the underbed for storage the dust elephants would find another place to live. Boy was I wrong. For now, the boxes have been slid back to their proper place. I really don't want to know what is inside them at this point. Next week is the freezer. Rumor has it we have a penguin living in there. Vediamo.

Heh, well, there were a few photos that would make the most dust elephant tolerant run for the hills.

I'm uh cultivating them for a future spinning project! That's the ticket!

It's not that bad! I cleaned most of the dust off the stuff before I took pics of it. :)

Why does even your 1st pic of under the bed evoke Italy and "coolness". Jeesh, even an under the bed shot by Zib looks damn good. ;)

Zib, I have to ask. What are you doing? And I agree you take some really great photos. I just know I am missing something here.

Ah, yes. I'm familiar with the dust elephants. Hardwood floors throughout + dog + 2 Things + mom who's lousy at cleaning = major dust elephants.

I hear it's pretty bad at my house right now while I'm gone. House-sitter hasn't been running the Roomba, even though she's been watching my dog AND another one at times. Asked my best bud (and owner of the other dog) to show the house-sitter AGAIN how to use the Roomba. Hey, it's not like she has to actually use a vaccuum cleaner!

Patsy, it's a knittyboard thing (you all are welcome to play check out the SP/RAK section). As a favor I will be skipping the bathroom shoot. :)

Heh. Looks like my last 3 expeditions to clean out under my bed before this week... LOL

All Hail Rubbermaid underbed totes and XXL Ziploc bags!

Ali's right, even Italian dust bunnies are more stylish than my suburban dust bunnies. With all this dust bunny awareness, I'm sittng on the sofa looking at the television wondering what's back there. I'm afraid. very afraid.

That's nothing, sister. Imagine what 4 shedding critters can produce.

What's the mosquito machine?

If you do find a penguin in the freezer, could you send it to me? Please? I'll make it worth your while!

You are a brave woman, to show us all that. If anyone saw the real truth about how we live at my house, they'd never speak to me again.

very stylish dust bunnies zib! bring on the penguin!

Try my solution to cleaning house: move.

I figure I've got a few years in this house before it gets so bad as to be uninhabitable.

You get points for bravery, though. After only a week here, I don't think I'd post pics of under my bed (We're pretty sure the cat ran under there, but we haven't seen her come out all week. We're very afraid.)
